<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><em>This guide to the best things to do in Liberec will take you around one of the Czech Republic’s best-kept secrets.</em></strong></p>

<span id="more-7968"></span>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Most travellers rush from <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/3-days-in-prague-itinerary/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Prague</a> to <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/things-to-do-in-cesky-krumlov/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cesky Krumlov</a> or Karlovy Vary, leaving Liberec quietly tucked away in the north of Czechia. But spend a day or two here, and you&#8217;ll discover a city where futuristic architecture meets fairy-tale town squares, mountain adventures begin within minutes of the city centre, and science museums stand alongside centuries-old botanical gardens.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Liberec city can also be visited on a one day trip from Prague.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">No matter how many days you spend in Liberec, here are all the amazing things to do in Liberec.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">THINGS TO DO IN LIBEREC</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It may be confusing so lets get this straight &#8211; Liberec is a region. And the capital city of this region is called Liberec City.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">So the following list is from Liberec region which has various fascinating places to visit including mountain and mountain trails, museums, TV tower, valleys and castles.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Admire the magnificent Liberec Town Hall</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Town-Hall-1024x768.jpg" alt="Liberec Town Hall" class="wp-image-7975" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Town-Hall-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Town-Hall-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Town-Hall-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Town-Hall-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Town-Hall.jpg 1032w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Liberec Town Hall</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rising above Dr. Edvard Beneš Square, Liberec&#8217;s Town Hall is impossible to miss. Completed in 1893, this Neo-Renaissance landmark is considered one of the finest civic buildings in Czechia, with its soaring central tower, ornate stonework and richly decorated façade instantly drawing comparisons to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_City_Hall" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vienna&#8217;s City Hall</a>. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The exterior alone is impressive, but step inside and you&#8217;ll discover elegant ceremonial halls adorned with stained-glass windows, carved woodwork and period detailing that reflect the city&#8217;s prosperous textile era.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="901" height="676" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Glass-paintings-inside-Liberec-Town-Hall.jpg" alt="Glass paintings inside Liberec Town Hall" class="wp-image-7974" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Glass-paintings-inside-Liberec-Town-Hall.jpg 901w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Glass-paintings-inside-Liberec-Town-Hall-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Glass-paintings-inside-Liberec-Town-Hall-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Glass-paintings-inside-Liberec-Town-Hall-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 901px) 100vw, 901px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Glass paintings inside Liberec Town Hall</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re up for a climb, ascend the 187 steps to the tower&#8217;s viewing gallery for sweeping views across Liberec&#8217;s colourful rooftops, with the Ještěd mountain rising in the distance. Guided tours run on select days, so it&#8217;s worth checking the schedule before your visit on the <a href="https://www.liberec-region.com/dr-en/826-town-hall-liberec.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">official website</a>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Even if you don&#8217;t venture inside, spend some time exploring the City Square. Framed by pastel-coloured historic buildings, lively cafés and the elegant Neptune Fountain, it&#8217;s the perfect place to pause and soak in Liberec&#8217;s atmosphere.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Wander around the Old Town</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Old-Town.jpg" alt="Liberec Old Town" class="wp-image-7973" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Old-Town.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Old-Town-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Old-Town-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Liberec-Old-Town-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Wander the Liberec Old Town | Things to do in Liberec</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The historic centre of Liberec is small enough to walk around on foot.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Pastel-colored buildings, Art Nouveau facades, pavement cafes and secret courtyards create an ideal atmosphere for a nice walk. Unlike Prague, the area is not crowded with visitors which gives a chance to look at the architecture slowly.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Keep an eye out for the Hotel Praha, one of the best Art Nouveau examples in the city, and visit the local shops for Czech glass and regional crafts.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Spend a few hours at the Botanical Garden</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="960" height="640" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Botanical-Garden_Things-to-do-in-Liberec.jpg" alt="Botanical Garden_Things to do in Liberec" class="wp-image-7986" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Botanical-Garden_Things-to-do-in-Liberec.jpg 960w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Botanical-Garden_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Botanical-Garden_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Botanical-Garden_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-585x390.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Botanical-Garden_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-263x175.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Botanical Garden_Things to do in Liberec</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you love green spaces, head to the Botanical Garden in Liberec, which is the oldest and one of the most impressive in the Czech Republic.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Within its state-of-the-art glasshouses you’ll wander through tropical rainforests, desert landscapes, carnivorous plants, orchids and even giant waterlilies. It’s a surprisingly large collection for a city of this size and is one of Liberec’s hidden gems.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It’s especially lovely if you’re visiting in the cooler months, when the warm conservatories provide a welcome escape.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Visit the oldest zoo in the country</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Not a typical tourist spot but it is interesting because Liberec Zoo is the oldest zoo in former Czechoslovakia, dating back to 1904.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The zoo has more than 170 species and places great emphasis on conservation and breeding programmes. Depending on the season, you may see red pandas, snow leopards, birds of prey and endangered species from across the world.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Because of its hillside location, it is also one of the most picturesque zoos in the country.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Rediscover your curiosity at iQLANDIA</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="960" height="578" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/IQLandia_Places-to-visit-in-Liberec.jpg" alt="IQLandia_Places to visit in Liberec" class="wp-image-7985" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/IQLandia_Places-to-visit-in-Liberec.jpg 960w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/IQLandia_Places-to-visit-in-Liberec-300x181.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/IQLandia_Places-to-visit-in-Liberec-768x462.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/IQLandia_Places-to-visit-in-Liberec-585x352.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">IQLandia_Places to visit in Liberec</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Travelling with children or simply curious adults?</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">iQLANDIA is one of the Czech Republic&#8217;s best interactive science and entertainment centres. It offers over 400 interactive exhibits that let you explore the beauty and mysteries of space.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Cosmo exhibition lets you explore the beauty and mysteries of space while you will go against the destructive forces of nature in the Elements Museum.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After passing through the star gate in the Geo exhibition you’ll explore the blue planet while in the GeoLab reveals what lies hidden beneath the earth’s surface.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Apart from these there are many smart entertainment options including the iQPlaneterium ensuring that you will have a good time here.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">MUZA &#8211; Explore the North Bohemian Museum</h3>

</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re interested in Liberec&#8217;s industrial past, don&#8217;t miss the North Bohemian Museum.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Its collections showcase the region&#8217;s famous glassmaking traditions, textiles, jewellery, historical weapons and decorative arts.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The museum building itself is worth admiring, with its striking Neo-Renaissance architecture and elegant interiors. Probably the most striking of all of the museum’s exhibits is the world’s longest glass ladder. This 26-meter ladder that looks as though it’s made of stainless steel is entirely made of glass and it adorns the museum’s tower.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At the top of the ladder is the best view of Liberec city and the surrounding mountains.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Get awed at Museum of Fine Arts Liberec</h3>

</div>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Welcome to the bathhouse, said my guide when I stepped into the gallery.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Confused, the guide informed us that the gallery, located in a beautifully restored Neo-Renaissance bathhouse from 1902. The old public baths have been converted into a modern gallery, with the old swimming pool as a dramatic exhibition space. This makes it one of Liberec&#8217;s most unique cultural attractions and a must visit in Liberec.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Museum of Fine Arts Liberec, better known as Galerie Lázně, is the city&#8217;s premier art destination and is as impressive for its architecture as for its collection.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The gallery hosts more than 22,000 works from six centuries, including Czech, Dutch, German and French art, plus rotating contemporary shows.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Have a roaring time at DinoPark</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="960" height="540" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/DinoPark-Liberec.jpg" alt="DinoPark Liberec" class="wp-image-7984" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/DinoPark-Liberec.jpg 960w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/DinoPark-Liberec-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/DinoPark-Liberec-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/DinoPark-Liberec-585x329.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">DinoPark Liberec</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dinosaurs have taken over three floors of the Plaza Liberec shopping mall in Liberec.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">DinoPark is a fun surprise for families and dinosaur fans, tucked away on the upper floors of Plaza Liberec shopping centre.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The fun starts with a walk through the time tunnel where visitors can witness the birth and development of the Earth and the universe.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Life-sized dinosaur models, moving exhibits, sound effects and interactive displays bring the prehistoric world to life, while educational exhibits keep the younger visitors entertained as they learn about the giants that once roamed the Earth.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dinosaurs roar out from all corners, with some of them looking down on you from above and although the DinoPark Liberec is indoors, it still rains regularly there!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Centrum Babylon</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="960" height="640" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Centrum-Babylon-Liberec.jpg" alt="Centrum Babylon, Liberec" class="wp-image-7983" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Centrum-Babylon-Liberec.jpg 960w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Centrum-Babylon-Liberec-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Centrum-Babylon-Liberec-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Centrum-Babylon-Liberec-585x390.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Centrum-Babylon-Liberec-263x175.jpg 263w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Centrum Babylon, Liberec</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">They call Babylon a fun factory as it is literally packed with enjoyment from the entire family of all ages.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At the Aquapark you can immerse yourself in an aquatic kingdom with fairy-tale decorations, aquariums, caves and themed laser shows several times a day.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For the kids, the Lunapark offers attractions in the style of an old Bohemian fair and the Funpark will test their agility, playfulness and wits.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The 4D cinema will get your blood adrenaline level soaring and the Labyrinth will test your patience.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If none of this attracts you then perhaps getting a luxurious spa at the wellness centre will lift your spirits.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Walk through the historic Waldstein Houses</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Some of the oldest preserved buildings in Liberec are these timber-framed houses.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">They were first built for the textile workers in the 17th century, and offer a fascinating insight into everyday life long before the grand Town Hall and Art Nouveau buildings transformed the city.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Take a hiking trip to Jizera Mountains</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="832" height="624" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Marian-Viewpoint-–-View-of-Hruba-Skala-Castle-loop-from-Karlovice.jpg" alt="Marian Viewpoint – View of Hrubá Skála Castle loop from Karlovice" class="wp-image-7982" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Marian-Viewpoint-–-View-of-Hruba-Skala-Castle-loop-from-Karlovice.jpg 832w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Marian-Viewpoint-–-View-of-Hruba-Skala-Castle-loop-from-Karlovice-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Marian-Viewpoint-–-View-of-Hruba-Skala-Castle-loop-from-Karlovice-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Marian-Viewpoint-–-View-of-Hruba-Skala-Castle-loop-from-Karlovice-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 832px) 100vw, 832px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Marian Viewpoint – View of Hrubá Skála Castle loop from Karlovice</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <a href="https://www.visitczechia.com/en-us/things-to-do/places/winter-sports/winter-adrenaline-activities/s-jizerske-mountains-winter-tips" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jizera Mountains</a> are one of the oldest protected landscape areas that feature numerous peat bogs, rock formations, waterfalls, rocky valleys and beech forests.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There are ample cycle bike trails, hiking trails and cross-country ski trails making this a favourite outdoor area in North Bohemia in all seasons.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I had the chance to go on a short hiking trail until Mariánská vyhlídka viewpoint. Located in Hruboskalské skalní město offers stunning views of Ještěd, Trosky, Kozákov and other surrounding landmarks.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It is located near Hrubá Skála castle and on the hiking trail from Sedmihorky. Nearby is also the symbolic cemetery of climbers. A great place for nature lovers and panoramic views!&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Explore Crystal Valley</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Pacinek-Glass-Workshop.jpg" alt="Pacinek Glass Workshop" class="wp-image-7972" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Pacinek-Glass-Workshop.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Pacinek-Glass-Workshop-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Pacinek-Glass-Workshop-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Pacinek-Glass-Workshop-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Pacinek Glass Workshop</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Crystal Valley isn&#8217;t a single destination but a fascinating region where centuries-old traditions of glassmaking, jewellery-making and craftsmanship continue to thrive. Stretching across North Bohemia, it connects charming towns, family-run workshops, museums and factories, each offering a glimpse into the artistry that has shaped the region for generations.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">What I loved most was that this wasn&#8217;t a place where craftsmanship sat quietly behind glass displays. I watched artisans transform molten glass into delicate works of art, learnt about the precision behind crystal cutting, and discovered how techniques passed down through generations continue to evolve with contemporary design.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I visited the <a href="https://www.pacinekglass.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pacinek Glass</a> workshop and loved my guided tour here.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Ride the cable car (or hike) to Ještěd</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="557" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Visit-Jested_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-Region-1024x557.jpg" alt="Visit Jested_Things to do in Liberec Region" class="wp-image-7981" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Visit-Jested_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-Region-1024x557.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Visit-Jested_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-Region-300x163.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Visit-Jested_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-Region-768x418.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Visit-Jested_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-Region-585x318.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Visit-Jested_Things-to-do-in-Liberec-Region.jpg 1029w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Visit Jested_Things to do in Liberec Region | PC: Czechia Tourism</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the most popular things to do in Liberec is to visit Ještěd. Rising 1,012 metres above sea level, the mountain dominates the city&#8217;s skyline and is crowned by one of the Czech Republic&#8217;s most recognisable buildings &#8211; a futuristic cone-shaped tower that functions as a hotel, television transmitter and observation deck.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The structure looks almost like a spaceship perched on the summit and has become an icon of Czech modern architecture. On a clear day, the views stretch across the Jizera Mountains, the Giant Mountains and even into neighbouring Germany and Poland.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re feeling active, hike up through forest trails. Otherwise, take the cable car or drive to the top before settling into the restaurant for lunch with panoramic views.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There is a small group tour option from Prague at <a href="https://getyourguide.stay22.com/explorewithecokats/n2YOK0C-cb" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Get Your Guide</a>.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Enjoy North Bohemian Cuisine</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch.jpg" alt="Pasta and beer_My veg lunch" class="wp-image-7922" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Pasta and beer_My veg lunch</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you are a meat lover, you are in for a treat because there are so many options here!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I noticed that local menus are filled with comforting Czech classics such as <strong>svíčková</strong> (marinated sirloin in a creamy vegetable sauce with dumplings) and <strong>smažený sýr</strong>, the country&#8217;s much-loved fried cheese.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But if you are a vegetarian like me, fret not becauseI was happy to find restaurants offering plenty of delicious vegetarian choices, while also catering well to vegan and non-vegetarian diners.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I enjoyed a relaxed meal at <strong>Pivovarská restaurace Svijany Liberec</strong>, where hearty Czech flavours, warm hospitality and freshly brewed Svijany beer came together for a memorable dining experience.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">HOW TO GET TO LIBEREC</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><em>Chocolates? Magnets? Postcards? Move over these generic travel keepsakes and read on to know the best souvenirs from Prague that scream local, handmade (mostly) and are affordable on pocket.</em></strong></p>

<span id="more-7939"></span>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While the post is mainly talking about the best souvenirs from <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/3-days-in-prague-itinerary/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Prague</a>, I am including a few from other cities of Czech Republic such as <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/things-to-do-in-cesky-krumlov/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cesky Krumlov</a>, Karlovy Vary and <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/things-to-do-in-liberec/">Liberec</a> because they are hyperlocal and mostly not found elsewhere.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Souvenirs are best reminders of the trip gone by and while they can add up cost, especially if you are into gifting, these locally available, handmade souvenirs from the Czech Republic are a great memorabilia.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">So let’s go shopping!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BEST SOUVENIRS FROM PRAGUE</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Marionettes</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="984" height="805" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Marionettes-from-Czechia.jpg" alt="Marionettes from Czechia" class="wp-image-7943" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Marionettes-from-Czechia.jpg 984w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Marionettes-from-Czechia-300x245.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Marionettes-from-Czechia-768x628.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Marionettes-from-Czechia-585x479.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 984px) 100vw, 984px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Marionettes from Czechia</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Among the most original souvenirs you may purchase from the Czech Republic are the marionettes – <a href="https://ich.unesco.org/en/RL/puppetry-in-slovakia-and-czechia-01202" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">traditional wooden puppets</a>. They are very much a part of Czech culture, and there are many shops in Prague selling handmade marionettes from collectors&#8217; items to mere decorations. For those in search of something extraordinary, it is possible to custom order a marionette from any of the special workshops.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Puppetry has always been an important aspect of the Czech culture and storytelling traditions that go back several centuries to the Middle Ages when traveling puppeteers brought tales and fables to life across the Czech lands. Puppetry has become such an essential part of Czech culture that its tradition is regarded as Czech cultural heritage.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It is quite interesting to see all sorts of characters represented by marionettes: kings, witches, jesters, devils, dragons, and popular literary figures.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bohemian Glassware</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bohemian-glass_best-souvenirs-from-prague.jpg" alt="Bohemian glass_best souvenirs from prague" class="wp-image-7947" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bohemian-glass_best-souvenirs-from-prague.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bohemian-glass_best-souvenirs-from-prague-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bohemian-glass_best-souvenirs-from-prague-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bohemian-glass_best-souvenirs-from-prague-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Bohemian glass_best souvenirs from prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If there’s one souvenir that truly captures the spirit of the Czech Republic, it has to be Bohemian glassware. Long before Prague became a major tourist destination, Bohemia had already earned a reputation for producing some of the finest glassware in Europe. The glass making and glassblowing tradition dates back centuries, when local craftsmen discovered that the region’s natural resources and skilled techniques could create exceptionally clear, durable, and beautifully decorative glass.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Today, that legacy lives on in everything from delicate wine glasses and crystal vases to contemporary art pieces and intricate hand-blown creations. If you’ve ever visited a Czech glass workshop in the <a href="https://crystalvalley.cz/en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Crystal Valley</a>, the country’s northern glassmaking region, you’ll know that every piece represents hours of craftsmanship, precision, and creativity.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You’ll find countless shops selling crystal and glassware across Prague, particularly around the Old Town. For those looking for premium craftsmanship, brands such as <a href="https://www.pacinekglass.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pačinek Glass</a> showcase the extraordinary artistry for which Czech glass is renowned worldwide.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Art Frames</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-frames-of-Prague.jpg" alt="Art frames of Prague" class="wp-image-7949" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-frames-of-Prague.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-frames-of-Prague-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-frames-of-Prague-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-frames-of-Prague-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Art frames of Prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">What&#8217;s better than bringing home a piece of art that captures the soul of the city?</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In small galleries, passageways, and independent studios, you&#8217;ll find beautifully framed sketches, watercolours, and prints that capture the city’s timeless charm.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Unlike mass-produced souvenirs, these artworks often carry the perspective of local artists through seasons and probably a component that only the locals know. Some pieces are detailed architectural studies, while others are vibrant interpretations of Prague’s colourful rooftops and historic skyline.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Whether you choose a small print or an original painting, these framed artworks offer something more personal. This is one of the best souvenirs from Prague that’s special.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Czech garnets</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Love collecting jewellery from around the world? Then you will find something to take with you in Czechia as well.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Garnets are these deep-red gemstones that have been prized for centuries and became especially popular during the reign of Emperor Rudolf II, who helped promote their mining and craftsmanship in the region.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Known for their rich colour and exceptional quality, Bohemian garnets remain one of the Czech Republic’s most treasured exports and a symbol of the country’s jewellery-making heritage.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The variety found these days ranges from elegant rings and pendants to intricate brooches and earrings inspired by traditional designs.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Genuine Czech garnets come with certificates of authenticity, and reputable jewellers are happy to explain the stone’s origin and provide documentation. So as long as you are careful, it&#8217;s safe to make a purchase.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re looking for a uniquely Czech souvenir, consider picking up a Rybička. This small fish-shaped pocket knife has been a Czech favourite for nearly a century and is instantly recognisable by its scales, fins, and tail. Compact enough to fit in your pocket, it combines practical use with a touch of nostalgia and quirky design.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Popular with both locals and visitors, the Rybička has become a small symbol of Czech craftsmanship and even made an appearance in the James Bond film Casino Royale. Lightweight, affordable, and easy to pack, it makes for a memorable souvenir that&#8217;s a little different from the usual magnets and postcards.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Ceramics and porcelain</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Czechia has a long tradition of porcelain-making, particularly in regions such as Karlovy Vary and Dubí, where skilled artisans have been producing elegant pieces for generations.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">From hand-painted mugs and teacups to decorative plates, bowls, and figurines, you&#8217;ll find plenty of options that reflect local artistry and tradition. Whether you&#8217;re looking for something useful for your home or a keepsake this is one of the best souvenirs from the Czech Republic.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně, and Františkovy Lázně are the popular spa towns of Czechia and have been attracting locals and visitors for years. These towns not only sell wellness but products inspired by these healing traditions, including mineral bath salts, therapeutic mud treatments, herbal cosmetics, and wellness remedies.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the most popular treats to bring home is the spa wafer mainly found in Karlovy Vary. These thin, crisp wafers come in a variety of flavours such as vanilla, hazelnut, chocolate, and cinnamon. Traditionally enjoyed warm with coffee or tea, they have become a beloved local snack and an easy-to-pack souvenir.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Medovina Honey Wine</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs.jpg" alt="Cesky Krumlov Souvenirs" class="wp-image-7927" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Cesky Krumlov Souvenirs</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Medovina is a sweet alcoholic drink made by fermenting honey with water and spices, somewhat similar to mead.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In Cesky Krumlov, you’ll often find it served warm during colder months or sold in beautifully designed bottles in local shops and markets. Different varieties may include herbs, cinnamon, cloves, or fruit infusions, and many smaller producers still make it using traditional recipes.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Utility Gift Items</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re shopping for family or younger relatives, Prague&#8217;s bookstores, museum shops, and design stores offer plenty of practical gifts that go beyond the usual souvenirs.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Think beautifully designed notebooks, pens, rulers, pencil cases, bookmarks, and stationery sets featuring Czech artwork, historic landmarks, or quirky local illustrations. These useful keepsakes are easy to pack, affordable, and make thoughtful gifts for children, nieces, nephews, students, or anyone who appreciates a touch of creativity in their everyday essentials.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Socks</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Socks-from-Prague.jpg" alt="Socks from Prague" class="wp-image-7945" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Socks-from-Prague.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Socks-from-Prague-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Socks-from-Prague-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Socks-from-Prague-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Socks from Prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of my favourite travel souvenirs to buy is a pair of locally designed socks. My husband isn&#8217;t really into traditional souvenirs, but he loves these practical little keepsakes. In Prague, you&#8217;ll find socks featuring everything from famous landmarks and medieval motifs to quirky Czech characters and artistic illustrations.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">What makes them special is that they reflect a bit of the local culture while still being something you&#8217;ll actually use. Unlike many souvenirs that end up sitting on a shelf gathering dust, a good pair of socks becomes part of everyday life — and every time they&#8217;re worn, they bring back memories of the trip. Lightweight, affordable, and easy to pack, they&#8217;re a surprisingly thoughtful gift for family and friends too.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BEST SOUVENIRS FROM PRAGUE: TIPS &amp; TRICKS TO BUY</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">No matter where you travel, the rules of shopping and bargaining remain the same. Here are some of the tips and tricks to remember for souvenir shopping in South Korea.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Buy Local</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Make sure that the product you like and buy is locally made. Don’t buy something that you would get in your country for the same or cheaper price!&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>The bargain game</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The shopkeepers know tourists are going to bargain so the prices are anyway increased by a huge margin. So slash the prices by 20-30% and agree to pay 60-70% of the price. Negotiate hard by simply walking away. If the price is possible for them, they will call you back and give you a counteroffer.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you buy in bulk, they will give you a better discount. This works better in flea markets or street markets.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Beware of custom restrictions</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Certain products may be restricted due to potential plant diseases and animal health concerns. It is best not to carry them.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Timing is Key</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Know the timings of night markets! I was told the night markets are open till 1 am in Myeongdong but 50% of shops were shut by 11:30 pm. Allow yourself plenty of time to explore the shops and make purchases.&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>SUSTAINABLE TIPS FOR SHOPPING IN CZECHIA</strong></h2>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Avoid buying leather bags and artefacts. Try to buy textile-based local products.</li>

<li>Carry a bag while shopping and avoid plastic bags.</li>

<li>Encourage shopkeepers to pack fragile items in a newspaper instead of bubble wrap.</li>

<li>Be polite to the shop owners. In case you don’t buy anything from there, smile at them and say ‘děkuji (pronounced dye-koo-yi)’ (thank you) before leaving.</li>

<p class="has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph"><em><strong>If you have ever wondered or pictured a medieval European town and how it would look, come to the Southern Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov. Read this travel guide on Cesky Krumlov to know about all the things to do in Cesky Krumlov.</strong></em></p>

<span id="more-7914"></span>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">‘Fairytale town’</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">‘Super cute town’</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">‘So aesthetic’</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">‘Amazing vibes’</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I kept coming across these statements when I was googling one day trips from Prague and came across the suggestion of Český Krumlov (will be writing as Cesky Krumlov from here on).</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I was on a week-long trip to the Czech Republic and while I spent <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/3-days-in-prague-itinerary/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">3 days in Prague</a>, I also wanted to check out a few other locations in North and South Bohemia. While <a href="https://atlasobsession.com/what-to-do-in-kutna-hora-on-a-day-trip-from-prague/">Kutna Hora</a> and Karlovy Vary were on my list, I zeroed in on Cesky Krumlov in the South and <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/things-to-do-in-liberec/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Liberec</a> in the North.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While it is ideal to spend at least 2 days in Cesky Krumlov considering it is 2.5 &#8211; 3 hours away from Prague, I wanted to maximize my Czech stay so I chose a day trip.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It was a fully guided 10-hour day trip that included transportation to and fro Prague as well as lunch.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Based on what my guide showed us, here are all the things to do in Cesky Krumlov.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-table"><table class="has-blush-light-purple-gradient-background has-background has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td class="has-text-align-left" data-align="left"><strong>✦&nbsp;Steal my trip: <a href="https://getyourguide.tpx.gr/Q6aT844Y" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">From Prague: Český Krumlov and České Budějovice Day Trip</a>&nbsp;</strong></td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">THINGS TO DO IN CESKY KRUMLOV</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Photograph the Cloak Bridge</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cloak-Bridge_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov.jpg" alt="Cloak Bridge_Things to do in Cesky Krumlov" class="wp-image-7916" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cloak-Bridge_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cloak-Bridge_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cloak-Bridge_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cloak-Bridge_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Cloak Bridge</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our bus was parked away from the castle and as we walked to the castle grounds, the Cloak Bridge was the first structure we saw.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Connected to the castle is the famous 3-tier covered arch Cloak Bridge. I had never seen a bridge like this before and I was quite impressed with the ancient engineering.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our guide informed us that the bridge dates back to the 15th century, and originally was built from wood. Standing before it today, it was hard not to marvel at the ingenuity of the people who created such massive structures centuries ago, long before modern machinery and construction technology existed.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You can cross the bridge directly from within the castle grounds, but I was glad to walk beneath it as well. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Explore Cesky Krumlov’s Main Square, Namesti Svornosti</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlovs-Main-Square-1024x768.jpg" alt="Cesky Krumlov’s Main Square" class="wp-image-7918" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlovs-Main-Square-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlovs-Main-Square-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlovs-Main-Square-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlovs-Main-Square-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlovs-Main-Square.jpg 1032w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Cesky Krumlov’s Main Square</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The historic centre is divided into two distinct areas by the river – Latrán, where the castle complex rises above the town, and the Inner Town, set within the horseshoe bend of the Vltava River.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At the heart of it all is Náměstí Svornosti, the town’s picturesque main square, lined with pastel-coloured buildings, open-air restaurants, and cosy cafés.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you visit the town in December, this square is home to one of the best Christmas markets in the Czech Republic.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There are many museums and art galleries around this square.</p>

</div>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the greatest pleasures in Cesky Krumlov is simply wandering through its narrow cobbled streets beneath the castle. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Although our guide made us hurry and ensured we were not lost, I would have loved getting lost here. It is the kind of town where the joy often lies in getting a little lost – turning corners without a plan and stumbling upon hidden courtyards, quiet cafés, colourful facades, and unexpected river views. May be, next time!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Church of St. Vitus</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-St.-Vitus-1024x768.jpg" alt="Church of St. Vitus" class="wp-image-7919" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-St.-Vitus-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-St.-Vitus-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-St.-Vitus-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-St.-Vitus-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-St.-Vitus.jpg 1032w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Church of St. Vitus</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Out of the things to do in Cesky Krumlov, visiting St. Vitus is a must!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">No matter where you stand in Cesky Krumlov, your eyes are inevitably drawn to the elegant spire of Church of St. Vitus rising above the red rooftops. Sitting gracefully along the Vltava River, the church has long been one of the defining landmarks of the town skyline.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Originally built on the site of an earlier 14th-century church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Gothic structure you see today became an important spiritual and cultural centre for the region. One of the few surviving traces of the older church is the mosaic above the entrance doorway, quietly linking the present building to its medieval past.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The slender neo-Gothic tower that now dominates the skyline was added during 19th-century renovations and remains one of the most recognisable features of the town. Step inside and you’ll find soaring vaulted ceilings, historic frescoes, and an atmosphere that feels both grand and deeply peaceful amid the bustle of the town outside.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Visit the Bears Moat</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="731" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bears-moat_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov.jpg" alt="Bear's moat_Things to do in Cesky Krumlov" class="wp-image-7923" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bears-moat_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bears-moat_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-300x214.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bears-moat_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-768x548.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Bears-moat_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-585x418.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Bear&#8217;s moat_Things to do in Cesky Krumlov</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Bears Moat is situated on the east side entrance to the castle.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A live bear moat is something rarely seen in European castles today. Located between the castle’s first and second courtyards, the moat has housed bears since the early 18th century, when noble families kept them as both a symbol of prestige and a dramatic warning to potential intruders. The tradition was also linked to the powerful Rosenberg family, who claimed ties to the Italian Orsini lineage &#8211; “orsa” meaning bear in Italian, making the animal an important part of their identity.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While the defensive role of castle bears disappeared long ago, the tradition continued in parts of the Czech Republic as a historical custom associated with aristocratic heritage and tourism. Today, the presence of bears in some castle moats remains controversial, with ongoing debates around animal welfare and conservation.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Be awed by the Cesky Krumlov Castle&nbsp;</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Castle-Courtyard-1024x768.jpg" alt="Cesky Krumlov Castle Courtyard" class="wp-image-7930" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Castle-Courtyard-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Castle-Courtyard-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Castle-Courtyard-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Castle-Courtyard-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Castle-Courtyard.jpg 1112w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Cesky Krumlov Castle Courtyard</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Without a doubt, the highlight of Český Krumlov is the magnificent Český Krumlov Castle towering above the town. Visible from almost every corner, the castle feels like a constant presence as you wander through the winding medieval streets below.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dating back to the 13th century, the sprawling castle complex is the second largest in the Czech Republic after <a href="https://www.hrad.cz/en/prague-castle-for-visitors" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Prague Castle</a>. Over the centuries, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque influences have all shaped its architecture, giving the castle a richly textured character. Highlights include its grand courtyards, ornate tower, historic Baroque theatre, scenic gardens, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the town.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the best things for visitors is that you can freely wander through much of the castle grounds and courtyards without purchasing a ticket, making it easy to soak in the atmosphere even if you choose not to join a guided tour of the interiors.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Take a guided tour inside the Castle interiors</h3>

<div class="wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex">
<div class="wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow">

<div class="wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Interiors-of-castle_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-768x1024.jpg" alt="Interiors of castle_Things to do in Cesky Krumlov" class="wp-image-7926" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Interiors-of-castle_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Interiors-of-castle_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Interiors-of-castle_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov-585x780.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Interiors-of-castle_Things-to-do-in-Cesky-Krumlov.jpg 774w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Interiors of castle_Things to do in Cesky Krumlov</figcaption></figure>
</div>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I highly recommend taking the castle interiors tour. This is done separately by the castle staff and at fixed timings. The ornate interiors and the medieval opulence of yesteryear owners is something to see and get awed!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The guided one hour tour started with a visit to St. George’s Chapel which was originally a Gothic chapel, but its interior was remodeled into an elaborate Rococo style between 1750 and 1753. It houses a glass box containing the relics of the African martyr St. Calixtus.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Next visit was to the Masquerade Hall which is widely considered the most impressive room in the castle. Painted by Joseph Letter in less than six months, it features dazzling 18th-century trompe l&#8217;œil frescoes depicting over a hundred life-sized, costumed figures, masked partygoers, and even the artist himself.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Next we visited the Baroque Theater &#8211; one of only a few perfectly preserved 18th-century Baroque theaters in the world. It retains its original auditorium, orchestra pit, and stage machinery, complete with a pulley system for lightning-fast scenery changes.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Golden Carriage is this famous ceremonial carriage gilded in 24-karat gold. It was created in 1638 as a gift for Pope Urban VIII, who famously used it only once.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Rosenberg Suites &amp; Renaissance Rooms are also included in the tour. These quarters are adorned with coffered ceilings, valuable murals, and biblical motifs. They feature period furnishings and living spaces used by the powerful Rosenberg, Eggenberg, and Schwarzenberg families.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Climb To The Top Of The Castle Tower</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The moment I spotted the colourful Renaissance tower of Český Krumlov Castle Tower rising above the town, I knew I had to climb it. After making my way up the narrow spiral staircase and 162 steep steps, I was rewarded with one of the most breathtaking views in Český Krumlov. From the top, the entire medieval town unfolded – red rooftops, winding cobbled lanes, the curves of the Vltava River, and the surrounding green hills. Pure fairytale drama!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The tower itself dates back to the 13th century and is beautifully decorated with Renaissance frescoes and intricate detailing that make it as impressive inside as it is from afar.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Buy Cesky Krumlov Souvenirs</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs.jpg" alt="Cesky Krumlov Souvenirs" class="wp-image-7927" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cesky-Krumlov-Souvenirs-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Cesky Krumlov Souvenirs</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Cesky Krumlov is a lovely place to pick up souvenirs that feel more hyper-local and authentic than the usual tourist trinkets. One of the most distinctive things to take home is Medovina, the traditional Czech honey wine.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Medovina is a sweet alcoholic drink made by fermenting honey with water and spices, somewhat similar to mead. In Cesky Krumlov, you’ll often find it served warm during colder months or sold in beautifully designed bottles in local shops and markets. Different varieties may include herbs, cinnamon, cloves, or fruit infusions, and many smaller producers still make it using traditional recipes.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Other worthwhile souvenirs from Cesky Krumlov include:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Handmade Bohemian crystal and glassware</li>

<li>Wooden toys and handcrafted puppets</li>

<li>Czech garnet jewellery</li>

<li>Locally made ceramics and pottery</li>

<li>Marionettes inspired by Czech theatre traditions</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The small independent shops tucked along the cobbled streets are often the best places to browse slowly and discover locally crafted items rather than mass-produced souvenirs.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Raft on Vltava River or Chilling on its banks</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cafes-on-Vltava-River-in-Cesky-Krumlov-1024x768.jpg" alt="Cafes on Vltava River in Cesky Krumlov" class="wp-image-7917" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cafes-on-Vltava-River-in-Cesky-Krumlov-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cafes-on-Vltava-River-in-Cesky-Krumlov-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cafes-on-Vltava-River-in-Cesky-Krumlov-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cafes-on-Vltava-River-in-Cesky-Krumlov-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cafes-on-Vltava-River-in-Cesky-Krumlov.jpg 1032w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Cafes on Vltava River in Cesky Krumlov</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the most interesting things to do in Cesky Krumlov is river rafting or canoeing along the Vltava River. Floating past medieval buildings, stone bridges, riverside cafés, and the towering castle above offers a completely different perspective of the town and adds a fun, slightly adventurous side to the visit.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During the warmer months, the river becomes lively with locals and travellers paddling through gentle rapids and relaxing stretches alike.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If rafting is not quite your thing, or if you’re visiting during the colder seasons, the perfect alternative is simply slowing down by the riverside. Grab a seat at one of the cosy cafés overlooking the water and enjoy a freshly poured Czech beer while watching the town drift by.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Enjoy Czech Cuisine</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fried cheese, goulash, chimney cakes.. You name it and you will find it here.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch.jpg" alt="Pasta and beer_My veg lunch" class="wp-image-7922" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Pasta-and-beer_My-veg-lunch-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Pasta and beer_My veg lunch</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Since I was on a guided day trip from Prague, my lunch was included in the tour. We reached a fancy restaurant called <a href="https://mastal.satlava.cz/en/restaurant-mastal-cesky-krumlov/1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Maštal Restaurant</a> &#8211; with beautiful indoor and outdoor seating, I could imagine how beautiful it would look for a romantic dinner!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Due to some miscommunication the restaurant was not informed about my vegetarian lunch choice, but after some request they made it happen. I had a mushroom cream sauce pasta with beer &#8211; both utterly delicious.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I later came to know that they have a few rooms! If you are staying overnight maybe you would like to consider it.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph"><em><strong>First time visitor to Prague? Then you must spend at least 3 days in Prague. Read this blog to cover Prague tourist attractions and all the things to do in Prague including the Prague Castle,&nbsp; Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge, visiting offbeat museums as well as trying viral foods in Prague.</strong></em></p>

<span id="more-7875"></span>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Unlike many other European cities such as <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/paris-highlights-for-first-time-visitors-guide-and-tips/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paris</a>, <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/things-to-do-rotterdam-netherlands/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rotterdam</a>, <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/top-free-things-berlin/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Berlin</a> and others which suffered in wars or natural disasters, Prague has been lucky enough to be untouched.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Which is exactly why you can easily get an architecture history class here (from medieval period to modern and contemporary) walking through various Prague districts.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Other than architecture, the Czech capital is a perfect blend of cathedrals, fortresses, cobbled alleys, modern art scene, museums&nbsp; and beautiful cafes. If you are visiting in spring or winter, you can also experience the beautiful <strong>Easter markets of Prague</strong> and <strong>Christmas markets of Prague</strong>. There&#8217;s a lot to do in Prague in 3 days.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This blog covers the perfect way to cover 3 Days in Prague before moving to other European cities or one day trips from Prague to places such as <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/things-to-do-in-cesky-krumlov/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cesky Krumlov</a> and <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/things-to-do-in-liberec/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Liberec</a>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Charles Bridge</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-John-of-Nepomuk-at-Charles-Bridge.jpg" alt="St. John of Nepomuk at Charles Bridge" class="wp-image-7893" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-John-of-Nepomuk-at-Charles-Bridge.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-John-of-Nepomuk-at-Charles-Bridge-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-John-of-Nepomuk-at-Charles-Bridge-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-John-of-Nepomuk-at-Charles-Bridge-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">St. John of Nepomuk at Charles Bridge</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Having recently read Dan Brown’s <a href="https://danbrown.com/books/novels/the-secret-of-secrets/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Secret of the Secrets</a>, I was extremely excited to explore Charles Bridge which is so vividly described in the book.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Start as early as possible by visiting the most <strong>popular tourist attraction in Prague</strong> &#8211; the Charles Bridge. Early morning with its soft sunlight and less crowds is the best way to explore the details of Charles Bridge.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This 14th century pedestrian-only stone bridge served as the sole Vltava river crossing bridge connecting the Old Town to Prague Castle for nearly 500 years.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Walk by the many Baroque Statues lined on the sides of the bridge. The most famous statue on the bridge is that of St. John of Nepomuk. According to legend, he was thrown into the Vltava River from the bridge in 1393 by King Wenceslas IV. Touching the bronze plaque at the base of his statue is a popular tradition said to bring good luck and ensure your return to the city.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The bridge also features 16 arches made from sandstone and strengthened with a medieval mortar recipe rumored to include egg yolks. It has outlasted major floods and conflicts for over six centuries.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Notice the many singers and caricature artists on the bridge as you watch ships cross by.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Old Town Bridge Tower</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="680" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Statues-on-Old-Town-Bridge-Tower-1024x680.jpg" alt="Statues on Old Town Bridge Tower" class="wp-image-7900" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Statues-on-Old-Town-Bridge-Tower-1024x680.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Statues-on-Old-Town-Bridge-Tower-300x199.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Statues-on-Old-Town-Bridge-Tower-768x510.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Statues-on-Old-Town-Bridge-Tower-1170x777.jpg 1170w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Statues-on-Old-Town-Bridge-Tower-585x388.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Statues-on-Old-Town-Bridge-Tower-263x175.jpg 263w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Statues-on-Old-Town-Bridge-Tower.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Statues on Old Town Bridge Tower</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Old Town Bridge Tower is widely regarded as one of the <strong>finest Gothic gateways</strong> in the world.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Built in the mid-14th century alongside Charles Bridge, the tower was intended to be far more than just an entrance to the Old Town. It served as a symbolic triumphal arch, welcoming Czech kings during their coronation processions into the historic heart of Prague.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The tower is rich with <strong>intricate Gothic detailing</strong>, coats of arms, and statues on its exterior; the tower remains one of the city’s most striking medieval landmarks. Those willing to climb its 138 narrow steps are rewarded with sweeping views of Prague’s red rooftops, the Vltava River, and the iconic skyline beyond.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>National Library &#8211; Klementinum</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Klementium-Library-Prague-1024x683.jpg" alt="Klementium Library Prague" class="wp-image-7880" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Klementium-Library-Prague-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Klementium-Library-Prague-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Klementium-Library-Prague-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Klementium-Library-Prague-585x390.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Klementium-Library-Prague-263x175.jpg 263w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Klementium-Library-Prague.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Klementium Library Prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The city of Prague has a lot of buildings but Klementinum is really something special. This place was originally a school for Jesuit priests but is now converted to the <strong>National Library</strong>. The famous part of Klementinum is the Baroque Library Hall. It has ornate frescoes on the ceiling, old globes and very old books. When you walk into this hall it feels like time has stopped.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Walking around Klementinum is like being in a book about Europe. It is very quiet. Feels like a grand old house. It also has courtyards and a big tower for looking at the stars. These places are nice and quiet, which is a change, from the busy streets of Prague.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Old Town Square</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1012" height="759" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Old-Town-Square_3-days-in-Prague.jpg" alt="Old Town Square_3 days in Prague" class="wp-image-7896" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Old-Town-Square_3-days-in-Prague.jpg 1012w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Old-Town-Square_3-days-in-Prague-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Old-Town-Square_3-days-in-Prague-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Old-Town-Square_3-days-in-Prague-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 1012px) 100vw, 1012px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Old Town Square in Prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Next, head to Prague Old Town Square, which is the beating heart of the city. Surrounded by beautiful architecturally rich buildings, this square is always busy and it is possible to spend an entire day visiting the many structures and people watching.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the most noticeable structures is at the center of the square, you will see the statue of Jan Hus, a 15th-century religious reformer who was burned at the stake.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Understand why Prague is known as the &#8216;<strong>City of Hundred Spires</strong>&#8216; by climbing the Old Town Hall which gives a panoramic view of the old town and the city beyond from all four sides. Not to forget the mountains surrounding the city and the many flights in the sky. You can climb the spiral staircase or take an elevator. You can buy tickets at the visitor center inside the Old Town Hall.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-old-town-square-at-sunset-1024x768.jpg" alt="Prague old town square at sunset" class="wp-image-7897" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-old-town-square-at-sunset-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-old-town-square-at-sunset-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-old-town-square-at-sunset-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-old-town-square-at-sunset-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-old-town-square-at-sunset.jpg 1032w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Prague old town square at sunset</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Another noteworthy place to visit is the Kinský Palace – a stunning Rococo-style palace that now houses an art gallery dedicated to the National Gallery Prague.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">2 more popular attractions – Astronomical clock and Tyn Church are covered in details down below.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You can also book these tours on Get Your Guide or Viator.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Astronomical Clock</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-Astronomical-Clock-768x1024.jpg" alt="Prague Astronomical Clock" class="wp-image-7894" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-Astronomical-Clock-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-Astronomical-Clock-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-Astronomical-Clock-585x780.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Prague-Astronomical-Clock.jpg 774w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Prague Astronomical Clock</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Whether you are spending 2 days or <strong>3 days in Prague</strong>, don’t leave Prague Old Town Square without seeing the Prague Astronomical Clock. Located on the southern wall of the city’s Old Town Hall, it is a national icon and rightly so.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Prague Astronomical Clock is not just one of Prague’s most photographed landmarks,&nbsp; it is also the world’s oldest astronomical clock still in operation.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Installed in 1410, the medieval clock has been fascinating visitors for over six centuries with its intricate craftsmanship and symbolism representing the sun, moon, and passage of time.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Every hour people gather to see the Walk of the Apostles. This is a cool thing that happens for just 45 seconds. The Walk of the Apostles is when the mechanical figures of the Twelve Apostles come out one, by one when the clock strikes. It happens fast you have to pay attention or you will miss the Walk of the Apostles.. That is what makes the Walk of the Apostles so nice.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Church of Our Lady before Týn</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1022" height="958" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-Our-Lady-before-Tyn.jpg" alt="Church of Our Lady before Týn" class="wp-image-7895" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-Our-Lady-before-Tyn.jpg 1022w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-Our-Lady-before-Tyn-300x281.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-Our-Lady-before-Tyn-768x720.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Church-of-Our-Lady-before-Tyn-585x548.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 1022px) 100vw, 1022px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Church of Our Lady before Týn</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Church of Our Lady before Týn is really something to see in Old Town Square. It has these two Gothic spires that stick out and you can see them from a distance.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While this 14th century church is beautiful throughout the day, at sundown when it is all lit up it looks like something out of a fairy tale with all the pastel colored buildings around it in Old Town Square.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The inside of the Church is very fancy with lots of details like altars, paintings and old stone ceilings. There are also tombstones that are centuries old and they tell us a lot about the history of Prague and the Church.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Powder Tower</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Powder-tower_3-days-in-Prague.jpg" alt="Powder tower_3 days in Prague" class="wp-image-7898" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Powder-tower_3-days-in-Prague.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Powder-tower_3-days-in-Prague-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Powder-tower_3-days-in-Prague-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Powder-tower_3-days-in-Prague-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Powder tower_3 days in Prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Standing at the edge of Prague’s Old Town and Charles Bridge, the Powder Tower surely gives off medieval vibes like no other building in Prague.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With its dark Gothic facade, pointed spires, and intricate stonework, the tower instantly catches your eye no matter which part of the day you visit.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Originally built in the 15th century</strong> as one of the city’s entrance gates, it later became a storage space for gunpowder, which is how it got its name. Today, it marks the beginning of the historic Royal Route once taken by Bohemian kings on their coronation processions.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But beyond the history, what makes the Powder Tower memorable is the atmosphere around it: the constant movement of trams, cafés spilling onto the streets nearby, and the feeling of slowly transitioning from modern Prague into its medieval heart.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Jewish Quarter</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Explore Prague&#8217;s old Jewish area called <strong>Josefov</strong> that has an old synagogue called the Old-New Synagogue. This synagogue is one of the oldest in Europe. You can also see sites and the Old Jewish Cemetery here.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <strong>Spanish Synagogue</strong> and the <strong>Kafka Memorial</strong> are also here which are important Prague Tourist Attractions.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Josefov area has been home to Jew community since the 13th century which is why there are so many monuments dedicated to Jew history.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you want to know the history of this area, enrol is a 3-hour walking tour. This tour lets you into synagogues and cemeteries. You get to learn a lot about Josefov and its history.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Sunset + Dinner</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Champagne-at-River-Vltava-768x1024.jpg" alt="Champagne at River Vltava" class="wp-image-7877" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Champagne-at-River-Vltava-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Champagne-at-River-Vltava-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Champagne-at-River-Vltava-585x780.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Champagne-at-River-Vltava.jpg 774w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Champagne at River Vltava</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After a long day of walking through Prague’s cobbled streets, climbing towers, and weaving through centuries of history, there’s no better way to slow down than by spending the evening along the banks of the Vltava River.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As the sun begins to set, the city takes on an entirely different mood &#8211; bridges glow softly under golden light, castle views reflect on the water, and the riverside fills with people unwinding over drinks and dinner.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the simplest pleasures here is finding a quiet spot by the river with a glass of bubbly or Czech wine and simply watching Prague drift by at its own pace.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you want to make the evening more special, you can opt for a <a href="https://getyourguide.tpx.gr/SPn5EQTq" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Prague Sunset River Cruise</a>, many of which include dinner and panoramic views of landmarks like Charles Bridge and Prague Castle beautifully illuminated after dark.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Alternatively, the riverbanks are lined with charming restaurants, floating bars, and cafés where you can settle in for a relaxed meal while listening to the gentle movement of boats on the water.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Since I was on a work trip, we went to Občanská plovárna and it was so good!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3 Days in Prague Itinerary, Day 2 – Prague Castle, Malá Strana &amp; Hidden Café Streets</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Prague Castle</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Courtyard-in-Prague-Castle.jpg" alt="Courtyard in Prague Castle" class="wp-image-7889" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Courtyard-in-Prague-Castle.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Courtyard-in-Prague-Castle-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Courtyard-in-Prague-Castle-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Courtyard-in-Prague-Castle-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Courtyard in Prague Castle</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Start the day with a visit to <a href="https://www.hrad.cz/en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Prague Castle</a> as it will probably take up the entire morning. It&#8217;s best to get a ticket online or choose a guided tour with built-in tickets.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Did you know that Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle complex in the world?</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dating back to the 9th century, the castle has served as the seat of Roman emperors, Bohemian kings, and later, Czech and Czechoslovak presidents. Spread across nearly 70,000 square metres, Prague Castle is far more than a single palace, it is a vast complex of grand residences, churches, courtyards, and historic buildings. Exploring it properly can easily take anywhere between three to five hours.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Among its many highlights are St. Vitus Cathedral, the 12th-century Old Royal Palace, St. George&#8217;s Basilica, and the charming Golden Lane,&nbsp; a picturesque row of colourful houses once occupied by royal craftsmen and artisans.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-table"><table class="has-blush-light-purple-gradient-background has-background has-fixed-layout"><tbody><tr><td><strong>✦&nbsp; You can purchase your entry tickets here &#8211; <a href="https://getyourguide.tpx.gr/JGcKyB15" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Official Entry Ticket to Prague Castle</a><br>✦&nbsp; Or book a guided tour here &#8211; <a href="https://getyourguide.tpx.gr/4TJ9q55L" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Castle Tour with Local Guide and Entry Ticket</a></strong></td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>St. Vitus Cathedral</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-Vitus-Cathedral-Prague.jpg" alt="St. Vitus Cathedral Prague" class="wp-image-7888" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-Vitus-Cathedral-Prague.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-Vitus-Cathedral-Prague-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-Vitus-Cathedral-Prague-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/St.-Vitus-Cathedral-Prague-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">St. Vitus Cathedral Prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, where several Bohemian kings are buried, is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe. Its spectacular stained-glass windows are particularly captivating, especially the famous Rose Window depicting scenes from the Biblical Creation of the World.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Golden Lane</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Golden Lane is a famous part of Prague Castle. It was made at the end of the 1400s when they built walls on the north side. This little street is full of houses that are painted in lots of different colours. Golden Lane has a lot of stories and legends about it. These stories have inspired writers and artists. One of these writers was Franz Kafka. He used to live on Golden Lane. Now some of the houses on Golden Lane have an exhibition that shows what life was like there, over the 500 years. Golden Lane is still an interesting place to visit.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Malá Strana lanes</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Malá Strana is right under the castle hill so that should be your next stop on the Day 2 Prague itinerary.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This old neighbourhood has streets made of cobblestones and buildings with ivy all over them. You will see cafes and nice buildings from the Baroque time that look like they have not changed. When you turn a corner you will find a small garden, a very old door or the sound of church bells making you feel lost in the European lanes.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Lennon Wall</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Lennon-Wall_3-days-in-Prague-1024x768.jpg" alt="Lennon Wall_3 days in Prague" class="wp-image-7892" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Lennon-Wall_3-days-in-Prague-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Lennon-Wall_3-days-in-Prague-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Lennon-Wall_3-days-in-Prague-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Lennon-Wall_3-days-in-Prague-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Lennon-Wall_3-days-in-Prague.jpg 1032w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Lennon Wall_3 days in Prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the must visit places in Malá Stran is The Lennon Wall. It&nbsp; is a historic legal graffiti wall in Prague which was painted by an anonymous artist after the 1980 murder of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Lennon" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">John Lennon</a>, a musician.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Over a period of time, more people expanded upon it, the wall slowly became a place for free expression of then communist Czechoslovakia.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The wall has historically been used for demonstrations and carries a central theme of John Lennon, but it also features designs relating to local and global causes such as global warming. The wall has also inspired other walls across the globe, such as the <a href="https://hklennonwall.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hong Kong Lennon wall</a>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Using spray paint is not allowed for visitors, however you can write a message by a marker (if you find a space)</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Kabourek</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Kabourek-Gremlin-at-old-water-mill-1024x768.jpg" alt="Kabourek, Gremlin at old water mill" class="wp-image-7891" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Kabourek-Gremlin-at-old-water-mill-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Kabourek-Gremlin-at-old-water-mill-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Kabourek-Gremlin-at-old-water-mill-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Kabourek-Gremlin-at-old-water-mill-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Kabourek-Gremlin-at-old-water-mill.jpg 1032w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Kabourek, Gremlin at old water mill</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A stone’s throw away is Kabourek, an old water goblin guarding an old mill on the Devil’s Stream in Prague.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The famous water wheel is tucked away beside the narrow <strong>Čertovka canal on Kampa Island</strong>, in an area often called Prague’s “Little Venice.” The fast-flowing channel once made this an ideal spot for mills, and two historic water wheels still remain here today. The larger and more iconic one, commonly known as the <strong>Grand Priory Mill</strong>, dates back to the late 13th century. Though restored several times over the centuries, it has retained its original scale, measuring 8 metres in diameter and weighing nearly five tons, making it one of the largest historic mill wheels in Europe.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sat on the floor level of the water wheel is the little green man. If you see him and have a laugh at his goggly eyes and curly pipe then watch out for he is known as a “Vodník” (known as water goblin in Czech folklore) and is to be respected.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Park Cihelná</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Park-Cihelna-Prague.jpg" alt="Park Cihelná Prague" class="wp-image-7890" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Park-Cihelna-Prague.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Park-Cihelna-Prague-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Park-Cihelna-Prague-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Park-Cihelna-Prague-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Park Cihelná Prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you’re looking to take the iconic fairytale photo flocked by Mallards and other feathered friends, Park Cihelná is a must visit.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Located on the Malá Strana side of the Vltava River, this area gives you a beautiful vantage point of the Charles Bridge, boats passing by and birds stopping for a quick bite. You can feed them if you have some food like bread.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Being a bird enthusiast, I was utterly excited to watch them in such close proximity!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Vyšehrad Castle</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="769" height="921" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Vysehrad-Castle.jpg" alt="Vyšehrad Castle" class="wp-image-7878" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Vysehrad-Castle.jpg 769w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Vysehrad-Castle-250x300.jpg 250w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Vysehrad-Castle-585x701.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Vyšehrad Castle | 3 Days in Prague Itinerary</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While I wanted to visit the Petřín Hill &amp; Tower for the view of the city from the top as well as catch some <strong>Cherry Blossoms in Prague</strong>, the funicular to go up the hill was under construction. I was low on energy after exploring the entire Prague Castle so decided to head to Vyšehrad Castle, one because it was close to my hotel and two because it is low on tourists and more on locals.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I am glad I went here because I got a fantastic view of the bridges from here too and so many cherry blossoms in bloom.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The top attractions here include Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul – A stunning neo-Gothic church with striking twin spires and intricate Art Nouveau interior frescoes and Vyšehrad Cemetery –The final resting place for many of the nation&#8217;s most celebrated artists, scientists, and politicians, including composer Antonín Dvořák.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Rotating Head of Franz Kafka</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="684" height="912" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Rotating-Head-of-Franz-Kafka.jpg" alt="Rotating Head of Franz Kafka" class="wp-image-7910" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Rotating-Head-of-Franz-Kafka.jpg 684w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Rotating-Head-of-Franz-Kafka-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Rotating-Head-of-Franz-Kafka-585x780.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Rotating Head of Franz Kafka</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Start your day 3 in Prague by visiting one of <strong>Prague’s most fascinating modern landmarks</strong> &#8211; the rotating head of Franz Kafka, created by renowned Czech artist David Černý. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Located near the Quadrio shopping centre, this giant kinetic sculpture is made up of dozens of mirrored steel layers that rotate every hour for 15 minutes and realign to form Kafka’s face before breaking apart again. Standing nearly 11 metres tall, the artwork feels both futuristic and hypnotic, a fitting tribute to Kafka, whose writing often explored themes of identity, confusion, and transformation. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Dancing House</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="684" height="912" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dancing-House-in-Prague.jpg" alt="Dancing House in Prague" class="wp-image-7909" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dancing-House-in-Prague.jpg 684w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dancing-House-in-Prague-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dancing-House-in-Prague-585x780.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Dancing House in Prague</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Dancing House is one of Prague’s most striking modern architectural landmarks and a refreshing contrast to the city’s Gothic towers and Baroque buildings. The building’s curved glass and flowing structure resemble two dancers in motion, which is why it is often nicknamed “Fred and Ginger” after the famous dance duo. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the best reasons to visit is the rooftop bar at the Dancing House called <a href="https://www.instagram.com/glassbar.dancinghouse/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">The Glass Bar</a>, which offers panoramic views of Prague’s skyline, river bridges, and castle spires. Whether you stop by for a coffee during the day or a drink at sunset, the terrace provides one of the city’s most memorable viewpoints away from the usual crowds.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Prague Railway Station</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-Noveau-ceiling-of-Prague-Railway-Station-1024x768.jpg" alt="Art Noveau ceiling of Prague Railway Station" class="wp-image-7899" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-Noveau-ceiling-of-Prague-Railway-Station-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-Noveau-ceiling-of-Prague-Railway-Station-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-Noveau-ceiling-of-Prague-Railway-Station-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-Noveau-ceiling-of-Prague-Railway-Station-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Art-Noveau-ceiling-of-Prague-Railway-Station.jpg 1032w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Art Noveau ceiling of Prague Railway Station</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you are travelling by train to other European cities or catching a Flixbus to Venice or Budapest or <a href="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/one-day-in-bratislava/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bratislava</a>, then in all probabilities you will transit through Prague Railway Station also known as Praha hlavní nádraží. But if you are not, you must visit for its mindful architecture.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Originally built in the late 19th century and later redesigned in the Art Nouveau style in the early 1900s, the station is considered one of Prague’s finest examples of the movement.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Step inside the historic section of the station and you’ll notice elegant stained-glass windows, decorative arches, floral motifs, ornate ceilings, and beautifully detailed interiors that reflect the artistic style popular across Europe at the time. The Art Nouveau redesign was led by Czech architect Josef Fanta, which is why the historic building is also known as the Fanta Hall.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Wenceslas Square</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Upside-down-horse-sculpture.jpg" alt="Upside-down horse sculpture" class="wp-image-7881" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Upside-down-horse-sculpture.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Upside-down-horse-sculpture-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Upside-down-horse-sculpture-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Upside-down-horse-sculpture-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Upside-down horse sculpture</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Wenceslas Square is one of Prague’s most vibrant and historically significant boulevards, where grand architecture, modern city life, and Czech history come together. At the upper end of the square stands the iconic equestrian statue of Saint Wenceslas, one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks and a popular local meeting point.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Not far away, tucked inside the nearby Lucerna Passage, you’ll also find the city’s quirky upside-down horse sculpture by artist David Černý, a provocative and humorous take on the traditional statue that perfectly reflects Prague’s artistic spirit.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The area is also known for its striking early 20th-century architecture, with elegant Art Deco facades, historic cafés, old hotels, and beautifully preserved buildings lining the boulevard.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Do spend some time here wandering through the surrounding streets filled with bookstores, souvenir shops, Bohemian crystal stores, Kafka-inspired keepsakes, local design boutiques, and cosy cafés perfect for a leisurely pause.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>National Museum</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/National-Museum-seen-from-my-room.jpg" alt="National Museum seen from my room" class="wp-image-7885" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/National-Museum-seen-from-my-room.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/National-Museum-seen-from-my-room-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/National-Museum-seen-from-my-room-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/National-Museum-seen-from-my-room-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">National Museum seen from my room</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A visit to the National Museum on Wenceslas Square is well worth adding to your 3 Days in Prague itinerary. Housed in a magnificent neo-Renaissance building, the museum is as impressive from the outside as it is within.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Founded in 1818, it brings together fascinating exhibits on Czech history, culture, nature, and science, with everything from sparkling mineral collections to prehistoric life displays and evolution galleries.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The architecture of the museum is beautiful and will make your visit worthy.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>DOX Centre for Contemporary Art&nbsp;</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dox-Gallery-Prague-things-to-do.jpg" alt="Dox Gallery Prague things to do" class="wp-image-7887" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dox-Gallery-Prague-things-to-do.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dox-Gallery-Prague-things-to-do-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dox-Gallery-Prague-things-to-do-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Dox-Gallery-Prague-things-to-do-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Dox Gallery Prague things to do</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The gallery situated in Praha 7 offers a completely different side of Prague beyond its castles and cobbled lanes. Housed in a former factory building, this contemporary art space is known for bold exhibitions, experimental installations, and thought-provoking discussions around design, architecture, technology, and society.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Even the building itself feels like an artwork, especially the striking wooden airship structure perched on the rooftop. It’s the kind of place where you can spend hours wandering between immersive galleries and unexpected ideas.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Signal Space Gallery</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Signal-Space-Gallery.jpg" alt="Signal Space Gallery" class="wp-image-7882" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Signal-Space-Gallery.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Signal-Space-Gallery-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Signal-Space-Gallery-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Signal-Space-Gallery-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Signal Space Gallery</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This gallery brings Prague’s creative side to life through digital art, light installations, and immersive multimedia experiences. Created by the team behind Prague’s famous <a href="https://www.signalfestival.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Signal Festival</a>, the space blends technology with storytelling in a way that feels both futuristic and playful. Expect glowing projections, interactive exhibits, and rooms that completely transform your sense of space — a refreshing contrast to the city’s centuries-old architecture outside.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Holešovice</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="912" height="684" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/VNitro-Block-cafe-in-Praha-7.jpg" alt="VNitro Block cafe in Praha 7" class="wp-image-7886" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/VNitro-Block-cafe-in-Praha-7.jpg 912w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/VNitro-Block-cafe-in-Praha-7-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/VNitro-Block-cafe-in-Praha-7-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/VNitro-Block-cafe-in-Praha-7-585x439.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">VNitro Block cafe in Praha 7</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">End your day at Holešovice, once an industrial district, now transformed into one of Prague’s coolest creative neighbourhoods.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Its streets are filled with minimalist cafés, independent bookstores, design studios, concept stores, and converted warehouse spaces buzzing with local culture.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The area has a laid-back, artsy atmosphere that feels refreshingly local, making it perfect for slow evening spent café hopping, browsing Czech design, or discovering hidden creative spaces away from the tourist crowds.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.instagram.com/vnitroblock/?hl=cs" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">VNitro Block</a> is an amazing cafe + working space + meeting space and I loved the vibes there.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">MUST TRY VEGETARIAN FOOD IN PRAGUE</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While Czech cuisine is meat heavy there are vegetarian versions in most places. However, everything is full of cheese, potatoes and bread.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Dumplings &amp; Cream Sauces</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Traditional Czech cuisine is meat-heavy, but many restaurants now offer vegetarian versions of classic dishes with bread dumplings, mushroom sauces, roasted vegetables, or creamy gravies. Trying local dumplings with rich Czech-style sauces is a great way to experience regional flavours without compromising on vegetarian preferences.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Smažený Sýr (Fried Cheese)</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Smazeny-Syr_Czech-Fried-cheese-1024x768.jpg" alt="Smažený Sýr_Czech Fried cheese" class="wp-image-7884" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Smazeny-Syr_Czech-Fried-cheese-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Smazeny-Syr_Czech-Fried-cheese-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Smazeny-Syr_Czech-Fried-cheese-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Smazeny-Syr_Czech-Fried-cheese-1170x878.jpg 1170w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Smazeny-Syr_Czech-Fried-cheese-585x439.jpg 585w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Smazeny-Syr_Czech-Fried-cheese.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Smažený Sýr_Czech Fried cheese</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the most loved comfort foods in the Czech Republic, this dish features thick slices of cheese coated in breadcrumbs and fried until golden and gooey. It’s usually served with fries, tartar sauce, or salad. It is a heavy dish and can be ordered as main and usually paired with Pilsner Beer.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I did not like its strong pungent aroma and after trying once, did not order again.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Trdelník (Chimney Cakes)</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="684" height="912" src="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Trdelnik-Chimney-Cakes.jpg" alt="Trdelník (Chimney Cakes)" class="wp-image-7883" srcset="https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Trdelnik-Chimney-Cakes.jpg 684w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Trdelnik-Chimney-Cakes-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.explorewithecokats.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Trdelnik-Chimney-Cakes-585x780.jpg 585w" sizes="(max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Trdelník (Chimney Cakes)</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While originally not exclusively Czech, this sweet pastry has become a popular Prague street-food treat. Fresh dough is wrapped around a spit, grilled, coated with sugar and cinnamon, and sometimes filled with ice cream, chocolate, or cream. The aroma alone is hard to resist while wandering through the Old Town.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">HOW TO GET TO PRAGUE</h2>

Landmarks such as the iconic Dancing House are located nearby, while the historic National Theatre can be reached on foot in around 15 minutes.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I reached the hotel around 9pm and my room was in the adjacent building. I was quite spooked as there were no lights and it took me a lot of time to figure out how to open the door and get to my room. However, during daylight it was fine.</p>
